My first post, I think this will be fun.  This post is about basic truth.  In order to maintain my own truth, I will state that I am a political conservative. 

The greatness of this United States has always lay within its people.  We remember that our government is "of" the people.  Of people who do what they think best, based on the truth first, and then their action.  Thus the viability of this nation has always relied on truth.  Our nation will not be our nation without the truth.

Here are five statements of truth that help form the foundation of our nation: 
    1.  The Constitution is our bedrock.  
    2.  The "press", "media", "fourth estate", is necessary to provide the truth to citizens.    
    3.  This nation is inclusive
    4.  Our strength is so far greater than all others, that the only way to be defeated is to defeat ourselves.  
    5.  People know the difference between right and wrong. 

A little more on the five statements of truth. 

1.  The Constitution is our bedrock.  It is solid, shifts periodically with great effort, and supports life but is not living.  To the extent that freedom and inalienable rights are valuable, our Constitution has been the greatest benefactor of mankind in history. 

2.  The "press", "media", "fourth estate", is necessary to provide the truth to citizens.  Truth starts with accurate facts and moves to interpretation.  To the extent that the powerful pen is untruthful with citizens, either through misrepresentation of facts or intent in presentation, the country is harmed.  

3.  This nation is inclusive.  Multi-culturalism is divisive.  The allure of our constitutional rights brought people of diverse backgrounds together, to become Americans.  Their myriad strengths joined to help build the nation.  They, we, I, are/am Americans.  We are not _____Americans.  We have multi-cultural heritages, yet we are not a multicultural nation.  We are an American nation.  

4.  Our strength is so far greater than all others, that the only way to be defeated is to defeat ourselves.  A great force for self defeat is political correctness.  PC is permission/pressure to not tell the truth.  This allows known untruths to exist unchallenged; which undermines the strength of any nation.  

5.  People know the difference between right and wrong.  There is, in fact, a moral nature to mankind.  Look around you, not at people's performance, but at their base knowledge.  People do know the difference between right and wrong.  That people choose to manipulate right and wrong, affecting truth, is also real.  So we must accept that people know the truth, and hold them to it, or pay them no mind.
